Each week following an artist's post, reflection questions and research ideas will get posted. These are aimed towards college level courses (senior seminar, composition, dance education, and more), but of course anyone can read the postscript and find thought-provoking questions and activities.
Names to know. In Mike Barber's profile, he mentioned artists Bill Irwin, Deborah Hay, and Keith Hennessy. If you are unfamiliar with their work, spend 10-15 minutes searching on the internet. Google their names, look on Wikipedia, search on Youtube, etc.
"Our many dance hats." On this blog each week, artists self-identify as performers, choreographers, artistic directors, arts administrators, and more. Mike described himself as both a "producer" and "curator." Discuss as a group what these terms mean in dance with festivals, special projects, and events.
Website design. Many individual dancers as well as companies, festivals, and projects now have their own website. Spend 10 minutes browsing Mike's website for his project Ten Tiny Dances to get website design ideas.
- What key information is on the homepage?
- What feeling is evoked from the homepage based on the colors, photo, and fonts?
- What tabs/categories are on the site?
Ten Tiny Dances - on the road. Mike has started to take his project to areas outside of his hometown of Portland. If you contacted Mike to produce a TTD project on your campus or in your community, where would it take place? Who would you like to see perform? Who would be your dream audience? Find out more about the project at:

Envisioning a dance - a "tiny dance." If you were a part of Ten Tiny Dances on a 4 x 4 stage, what kind of dance would you create for a small stage? How many dancers? What kind of music? What would your theme/concept be? Journal for 10 minutes to envision one or two ideas.
