Each week following an artist's post, reflection questions and research ideas will get posted. These are aimed towards college level courses (senior seminar, composition, dance education, and more), but of course anyone can read the postscript and find thought-provoking questions and activities.

Discuss: Take Aways
In a college course, share one or two "take aways" from Marlena's artist profile. In particular, what did you learn from reading her story about getting into Kate Weare's company?
Reflect: On Teaching
Marlena shared some great questions related to teaching. This week, answer these questions related to one of the classes you participated in:
- What did you love about that class? Was it the energy the teacher provided? The structure? The technique? The aesthetic?
- What was successful? Why?
- What wasn’t successful? Why?
- What was the progression of class like? Did it work for your body and why?
- How does the teacher use the space/facings/etc?
- How did the teacher utilize music?
- What kind of language did the teacher use? Dynamic anatomical language? Technical vocabulary?
Reflect: Voice
"What makes you/your voice different from other dancers in the room?" Take some time to journal about this idea - your voice as a choreographer but also your voice as a performer. Also, thinking bigger about a "life in dance" - what is your voice related to teaching, community engagement, and the role of modern dance in the United States?
