We offer a 60-credit, three-year, full-time MFA degree in Performance and Choreography for the Teaching Artist. The program is small (four students are accepted each year) and individualized. Auditions are required, and admission is for fall semester acceptance only. The degree process culminates in an original choreographed and performed thesis project and includes an off-campus internship with opportunities to work with a professional company, to engage with presenting organizations, or to intern at the Kennedy Center, Dance Place, Dance Exchange, or other professional venues in the Washington DC area. Separate opportunities for K-12 teaching certification, and certification in Laban Movement Studies (the CMA), are available, along with professional performance work in dance. MFA dance students are also able to take electives in other areas including theatre courses such as Media Design, Playwriting, Puppetry, Alexander Technique, Voice, and Performance Studies.
