Thank you for bringing Abby Fiat to life again for me. She was a wonderful mentor during the time I studied with her. Now her words linger longer in my thoughts, softly returning me to a foundation she helped me build. Now that I teach dance, I realize what an influence she was even for my teaching style, my approach of teacher-as-learner. The dance in the classroom. With Abby I fell in love with class and didn't care much for the stage. Now I carry that into the work I do as an arts administrator, in the dance between the artists that I manage and the many schools we serve, the students we bring to life and the adults who surround them, the communities we transform and the landscapes we change as artists.
