Our program is best suited for the contemporary dancer. We are looking for practicing artists in the field of dance who wish to focus in and grow their craft, expanding in new directions and accumulating new skill sets. We have four concentrations: Dance and Technology, Pedagogy, Performance, and Choreography. NYU MFA students are the next generation of game changers. In the world of contemporary dance, the landscape is constantly shifting and building so we want to support artists that are looking for the next thing. Since we are located in New York City--the dance capital of the world--we are able to provide seemingly endless opportunities to see world-class dance. Performances are constantly happening around the university. Since NYU Tisch Dance is a conservatory within the university, our instructors are also working artists including Rashaun Mitchell, Jeremy Nelson, Jolinda Menendez, Giada Ferrone and our chair, Seán Curran. With working artists as faculty, our students can establish connections with other professionals and professional dance companies. At the Tisch Department of Dance, we seek to develop and prepare fully realized dance artists to be critical thinkers, fearless leaders, and fluent performers.
